What Makes Acton
Calgary West Different?

Learner-Driven Studios

Every day, learners practise self-management and self-governance, working at their own pace and helping build a strong community where mutual respect and accountability thrive.

Real-World Projects

Hands-on challenges help learners develop critical thinking, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills—preparing them for life, not just school.

Mastery-Based Progression

Learners move forward only when they demonstrate mastery, building real confidence and deep understanding along the way.

Socratic Discussions

Guides ask questions—not give answers—encouraging children to think deeply, articulate ideas clearly, and respect diverse perspectives.

A Hero’s Journey Mindset

Every learner is viewed as a hero with a unique calling to discover. The path isn’t easy, but it is filled with meaning and purpose.

About Us

At Acton Academy Calgary West, we believe every child is a hero on a journey—capable of far more than traditional schooling often allows. Learning here goes far beyond memorization. We focus on helping learners “learn to be, learn to learn, and learn to do”, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

As an IALDS-accredited, non-profit elementary and middle school, we meet and exceed Alberta curriculum standards—but how we do it is what truly sets us apart. Our studios are learner-driven environments where children set their own goals, track their progress, and master real-world skills through Socratic dialogue, hands-on projects, and self-paced learning.

At Acton, learners build character, independence, and resilience. They learn to think critically, embrace challenges, and take ownership of their growth—so they’re not just prepared for tests, but for life.
If you’re ready for your child to embark on a journey fuelled by curiosity, self-awareness, purpose, and agency, we warmly invite you to discover Acton Academy Calgary West.
